What you should know about alpaca yarns
We are the only distributors in New Zealand to supply 100 Baby Alpaca fibre to the Wool Stores of New Zealand, from the largest Alpaca Textile Group in Peru. We are passionate about Alpacas and Alpaca yarn but we also think it’s important to keep this industry thriving in Peru in a sustainable way. That’s why our fabulous alpaca knitting yarn stock is sourced from a supplier who has set up breeding ranches in the Andean highlands. Their main emphasis is on improving alpacas through sustainable breeding practices, educating small farmers who own most of the animals throughout the region. With a drastically limited supply of these animals outside South America and stringent export restrictions on further transport of their national treasures in order to avoid depletion of their own herds, consumers want more fleece than farmers can produce.

, Tauranga . , Gisborne aw. Contrary to common belief baby alpaca yarn is not from a newborn alpaca it comes mainly from the first shearing and the finest parts of the adult Alpaca. It is silky soft, warm and durable with unique thermal properties due to the microscopic air pockets found in the fiber, and it has more thermal capacity than almost any other animal fiber. Alpaca’s have been precious for their fiber since Ore Inca times due to the properties and quality of their fiber hair. We have a fresh addition to our Indiecita Baby Sufi and Mulberry Silk range, 7 new Hand Paint colors in attractive easy hues that can be mix and matched to the existing colors, or worn on their own with subtle changes in the color palate.
